Matt Stover Spins and Recovers for Podium Finish
Matthew Stover drove through the field into second place in Saturday’s Legends Cars Pro races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s road course, before a spin as he approached the last turn on the course dropped him to third at the finish.
A fifth-place starting position soon saw the Gastonia teen move the No. 26 BB&T Mortgage/Stover Custom Homes car through traffic to third then he took second place in the class he describes as “so competitive that it’s hard to pass anyone.”
Stover described the day as “pretty good, the car was alright in practice.” Matt and his father made “a couple of adjustments in the heat races” that improved the car. He described his spin in the feature: “it was right where I switched gears and it got away from me. I only lost one position so it wasn’t too bad. Overall it was a good run to a top five,” he said.
Matt’s next race in the car he performs most of the work on himself will be on the Lowe’s Motor Speedway infield road course again, Saturday, Jan 12.
