Kyle Benjamin has another major championship added to  his racing resume at age 10, taking the Winternationals laurels at Orlando SpeedWorld.

After the first day’s race got delayed by rain in central Florida, young Benjamin raced his No. 71 Mallory Ignition Bandolero twice in one day, saying that “the rain didn’t affect us that bad. Our car was better at night, so we got better when they ran it late.” The rain and changed schedule seemed to play right into his hands, as he won the first three races, locking up the championship after finishing second with one race left. He finished third in the final feature.

This was Benjamin’s first race at Orlando SpeedWorld. “It was a good track – it was fun,” he commented. “It was kind of like Atlanta except it doesn’t have the big bump going into the corners.” Going to a new track is fun, added Kyle.

Atlanta Motor Speedway’s road course is the next race on his busy calendar. This weekend is the penultimate race in the Winter Flurry season there, with Benjamin strongly in second place, only nine points out of the lead. After a victory in the Labor Day weekend Nationals at Kentucky Speedway, the Winternationals crown and a strong record all around the Southeast, keep an eye on him down the road.
