Where To Race Saturday In The South

The 2008 Legends and Bandolero state and national points chase doesn’t start until March 14th, but that doesn’t mean race tracks are silent.  Saturday, March 8th the drivers have two large venues to race at in the South.  The question is: where will they choose?

Concord Motorsport Park (NC) kicks off their 2008 racing season Saturday with Legends Car and Bandolero racing on their quarter-mile track.  Their 23-race schedule runs in two segments, a spring run prior to the Summer Shootout at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC) and a fall run once things conclude at LMS.  Points for both segments are added together for a season total points chase. 

Just about four hours down the road at the same time, the sixth race in the Winter Flurry (Winter Series race #12) will be at Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA) as part of the NASCAR race weekend.  The races will be held on the track’s quarter-mile “Thunder Ring” oval and will feature Legends Cars, Bandoleros and Thunder Roadsters.  The races will be held after the NASCAR Nationwide Series racing action concludes.

Here are the schedules for each track’s events:

CONCORD MOTORSPORTS PARK (Concord, NC) – Saturday, March 8th 2008

5:30pm : Pit / Paddock gates open

6:10pm : Rotating practice

7:20pm : Driver’s meeting

followed by: Heat races

followed by: Features

ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Hampton, GA) – Saturday, March 8th 2008

9:00am - 11:00am : Competitor Registration / Pit sign in (Credential Building)

9:00am : Garage area opens (Media Center Lot)

11:00am - 3:00pm : Draw (parts trailer in Media Center lot)

4:00pm : Grid for races

5:00pm : Race (20 Laps)
