Casey Wyatt Joins Causey Racing / 600 Racing Legends Series
July 14 was the first time Casey Wyatt ever competed in a Legends race. A test session two days earlier, was the first time he actually had the opportunity to drive one. It only took those two days for car owner Dee Causey to decide, that it shouldn't be the last time he drives one.
In practice that Saturday, Casey turned off some of the fastest laps of the day. Qualifying was nothing short of disappointing, as final adjustments went the wrong way for qualifying set up; he started 10th.
In the Legends series, wheel to wheel, door to door and bumper to bumper racing is the norm. A slight bobble or tap from behind opens the door for exciting passes and nerve racking racing. All of which most racers in the series agree is a must to get to the front. Dee Causey was most impressed with Casey's charge to the front. Wyatt made his way from 10th to 5th in his first 25 lap feature with no bobbles and no taps. Just clean strategic racing which included a 3 lap set up and pass to the bottom of 5th place runner Brian May.
It was that performance which won over Dee Causey. "Casey's patience and finesse really impressed me." What started out as a one race "fill-in" has turned into a new partnership for Casey Wyatt. Casey will field the second Legend series car for Causey Racing for the remainder of the 2007 season. The team will complete the slated season at Langley Speedway and selected venues at other tracks; to include Southside Speedway in Midlothian VA this Friday July 27th.
