Chase Moody / ARMY Paint Scheme
Sixteen year old Legends driver Chase Moody of Griffin will pay tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces this 4th of July with a special “SALUTE TO AMERICA”S REAL HEROES” paint scheme on his #316 Semi-pro Legends Car. The car will be unveiled during this week’s special Wednesday night edition of Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The special paint scheme will include the names of more than 4000 men and women who have given their lives in service to our country in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. It will also feature several photos of our soldiers in action. The desert camouflage background will serve as a special salute to the Army, where more than 70% of our US casualties have occurred during the conflicts.
Moody, who competes weekly in the Thursday Thunder Series felt it was one way he could make a difference. “Our family has a very close friend who has already been serving in Afghanistan and will be leaving in a few months for a tour in Iraq”, said Moody,” To know someone who is actually laying their life on the line every day for us makes me really think about the freedoms we all enjoy, but often take for granted.”
That “someone” who is heading for Iraq soon is Army Specialist Jacob Todd, son of Dan & Ann Todd of Orchard Hill. Todd will accompany the Chase Moody Motorsports team this Wednesday to meet and greet the fans during the autograph session prior to the races. Fans will also be asked to write their own “thanks” to our troops on a special banner that will be hand delivered by Todd to our troops in Iraq this fall.
Moody’s team is hoping that the special patriotic paint scheme will serve as a reminder to all of us of the sacrifices being made every day for our freedom. “I think it’s pretty easy for us to look at famous athletes, race car drivers, and movie stars and mistake them as heroes”, said Moody “The truth is that these men and women are the real American heroes. That’s what the 4th of July is really all about”.
Moody is sponsored locally by McNair Grading, Blake Builders Supply, Internal Medicine of Griffin, Image Matters Signs & Such, Maddox & Harding Attorneys At Law, and Moody Funeral Home. For more information, please visit chasemoody.com.
