Justin Lloyd Closes Concord Legends Season With Second-Place Finish
Justin Lloyd ended the Concord Motorsport Park Legends season with a strong second place finish in the No. 43 Lake
Norman Counseling Center Legends car Saturday.
“Practice on Friday was pretty good,” reported the Mooresville, N.C. teen. “We were breaking in tires and got the lap times down were we needed them.” The team spent most of Friday working on setup, getting the car dialed in for the feature race.
That race got delayed from Friday night until Saturday morning when the track’s lighting system had problems, sending everyone home until the next day.
When Lloyd returned to the track for the race, he started sixth in the third heat, worked through traffic smoothly and won, earning the third starting position for the feature. “I ran second after the start. The race had a couple of cautions and the top three pulled away from the field,” commented Lloyd. The final restart was for a Green/White/Checker and he “knew something would happen,” so he used caution instead of charging to the front. “I got second by holding back,” demonstrating the adaptability and maturity to read the opposition and to adjust to a car with rear brakes that were “a
little tight.”
Race plans for the remainder of the season are still uncertain, with the possibility that he will compete in a few of the Winter Heat Series races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
