National Scene
Fireworks will be both on the track and off as part of Papa John’s Pizza Red, White and Blue night, this Wednesday evening during Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Thursday Thunder racing series.

For the first time ever in the series’ history, the evening of racing excitement will take place on a Wednesday to celebrate July 4. Immediately following the on-track fireworks between competitors, thousands of exploding shells will light the night sky in one of the largest fireworks displays in Atlanta.

Just $5 gains fans admission to the fireworks spectacular, as well as a ticket to view an evening of short track racing. Tickets for children 6-11 are $1 with ages 5 and under free. With ample parking, affordable admission prices and concession specials including sliced watermelon, ice cream bars and barbecue sandwiches, the special July 4 edition of Thursday Thunder will be the biggest evening of short track racing in 2007.

Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. Feature racing starts at 7:45 p.m. and the night's fireworks extravaganza will follow the racing program at approximately 10:00 p.m. For more information, contact the speedway’s ticket office at (770) 946-4211 or visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com.
