Winter Heat Competitors Gear Up In Final Open Practice At LMS
Many Legends and Bandolero tracks across the Carolinas have wrapped up their 2007 racing season and will sit silent during the next few months until the winter passes and the spring racing season starts. Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s 1/5th-mile oval and inner road course are not on that list as the racers are gearing up for the start of the Winter Heat Series next month.
The final open practice session at the 1/5th-mile oval back track took place Tuesday late afternoon with some Legends and Bandolero racers taking some of their final moments on the track before the Winter Heat starts up.

2007-2008 WINTER HEAT SCHEDULE - Lowe's Motor Speedway (NC)
*subject to change
Ronnie Bassett, Jr. showed up during last year's Winter Heat to practice a Legends Car, but will race it this year.
Recent Mason-Dixon Meltdown Bandolero Young Guns winner Robert Poole had his car out for practice as well as third-place finisher Meghan Dillner, who was shaking down her BDI Racing teammate Gregory Lang’s Bandolero. Also seen at the track was the #42 of Bailey Daniels and the #40 Bando driven by Garrett Biggers as well as Dillon Bassett in his brother’s Bandolero. Chandler LeVan, who wrecked hard in the Meltdown on Saturday, had his car patched back together and was out making laps on the quarter-mile.
A few faces that have appeared in Bandoleros this year are now preparing for their Legends debut during the Winter Heat, including Devon Jones, Ronnie Bassett, Jr. and Jordan Stillwell.
Also placing down some final laps in Legends before the start of the Winter Heat was Steven Ross in the #48 Ladyga Motorsports entry, Dennis Lamberth, “Big John” Ellenburg, Clay Hair and Kyle Pierce. Bruce Silver and “The British Bulldog” Matt Harris were also in attendance shaking their cars down for their Winter Heat debuts with BDI Racing.
A few past Winter Heat competitors were on site watching the test session, including Kendall Sellers, Trevor Farbo and David Ragan. Farbo recently sold his Legends Car through the LegendsNation.com classifieds, so he isn’t looking to race during the Winter Heat, but Sellers and Ragan both confirmed to LN that they will each run a few races during the Winter Heat.
