By Lindsey Hudson, PR Manager - Coastal Plains Raceway
Following four rain-out make-up races, the INEX Legends took to the asphalt for their 25-lap feature at Coastal Plains Raceway on Saturday. After drawing for their qualifying order, Paul Prince, of Sneads Ferry, led the 8-car field to the green flag. Prince’s #22 Ford was quickly passed by the outside line of cars.

The #82 Ford Coupe driven by Brandon Temple, of Emporia, Va., took the lead on lap one securing himself bonus points for leading the race. By lap five, 2006 Track Champion Billy Gomez Jr., of Fayetteville, had his #66 Ford up to fifth place. Gomez Jr., overtook Temple on lap ten and never looked back.

As the #66 and the #82 pulled away from the field a fierce battled raged for third place between T.J. Barron, of Wilmington, and “Sparky” West, of Hampton, Va. The two drivers fought back and forth throughout the remaining laps but it was the #44 of Barron who crossed the stripe in third.

West and Michael Smith, of New Bern, rounded out the top five followed by Prince and Fayetteville natives Vee Harvey and Casey Traxler.
