Friendship Motor Speedway Adds More Races

More races are always a plus in the Carolinas.

Friendship Motor Speedway has announced the addition of four more races to their 2007 Legends and Bandolero schedule.  Added dates are:
- Saturday June 30th
- Sunday July 8th
- Saturday July 21st
- Saturday August 4th
Saturday Legends drivers can find themselves racing at Anderson Motor Speedway (SC), Coastal Plains Raceway Park and Friendship Motor Speedway.  Bandolero racers will have the option to race at Friendship on Saturday or OCR Action Sports Park (NC).

Concord Motorsport Park will conclude the racing action this weekend with their Sunday Legends and Bandolero racing action.  The race is a makeup date for the May 4th rainout.

Anderson Motor Speedway Race With PASS

With all the races happening this weekend, a driver has many options to choose from.  One of those options is Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina as part of "The South Carolina Clash" PASS-sanctioned event.

On Friday evening, Legends drivers will hit the track for their heat races.  On Saturday, a 20-lap feature will determine the Legends winner of the Clash, which also features races by the PASS South Super Late Models and the Redneck Racing Series.

For more information and the full weekend schedule, visit the PASS South site at www.racewithpass.com.

Get Geared Up At Caraway and Friendship

Are you not sure what gear to run your Legends car at Caraway Speedway and Friendship Motor Speedway?  Rob Sparkes at Hurricane Racing sent in this tech note to LN for both facilities:

For Caraway Speedway – “This 4/10th mile likes a 330 or 333 gear.”

For Friendship Motor Speedway – “This track has a great surface for breaking in tires. 358 is the gear for most drivers.  A 342 works for those up front and easy on the brakes.”

Bando Driver Rodgers Tests Legends at Friendship

For most Bandolero drivers, the next logical step up in racing is a Legends car.  Outlaws driver Nathan Rodgers took that step Saturday at Friendship Motor Speedway (NC) when he got behind the #45 Hurricane Racing Legends car for a test session.

“It was a lot of fun,” said Rodgers.  “My grandpa and dad said they would go 50-50 and get me a Legends car, so I am excited about that.  I think what we might do is have my mom get in the Bandolero, and I will help her out with it.  Then I will get in the Legends car.”

Seven Tracks, Eight Racing Events in Three Days

While most Carolinas tracks took Memorial Day weekend off, they are making up for it this weekend.  Seven tracks will be running events over three days.  Friday June 1st Caraway Speedway (NC) and Wake County Speedway (NC) hosts Legends car racing while Concord Motorsport Park (NC) hosts Legends and Bandolero racing.
The “Duke” Is On The Road To Recovery

Duke Furr just likes to race.  Over the last few years, he has wheeled Bandoleros, Legends, Pro Challenge cars and trucks and Arena Racing USA cars.  This year he was looking forward to running the Summer Shootout in the #33 Duke Furr Racing Legends, but what was supposed to be a simple knee surgery has sidelined him for a few months.

“I went in to have surgery done on my knee,” explained Furr.  “There were complications from it which caused it to swell and not heal like it should.  They had to do blood work on me and do some things to correct the situation.  So I haven’t been able to race for a while.”

Furr is on the mend, looking forward to coming back to the track.

“I can walk around now,” said Furr.  “It is still swollen.  It will be the end of July before I can race again, so we are putting Josh Turner in a Duke Furr Racing Legends car for the Shootout, and I might race a few races in a second car towards the end of the summer.”
