MILLBRIDGE - 5/6/07 BANDOLEROS

OUTLAWS - AS EASY AS A SUNDAY DRIVE FOR OUTLAW SELLERS
BANDITS - STILLWELL SURVIVES SPIN CYCLE TO WIN DIRT-DUEL

The Bandolero Bandit feature pitted two young drivers in a duel on dirt.  Jordan Stillwell squared off against Matt Linker.  The race resembled two socks in a dryer set to spin cycle as both youngsters struggled to keep their cars from spinning on the loose-dry surface.
Three laps into the contest, both cars spun and the yellow came out.  That gave the lead to Linker. The #52 of Stillwell was next to spin. But then a few laps later the #21 spun. This gave the lead to Stillwell.  A few more spins and a handful of laps later the checkers waved over the #52, who survived to take the win.

“I just went into the corner and I tried to go around the dip and when it did, I got into the loose stuff and it spun me out,” said Stillwell of his first spin while leading.  Then I just couldn’t get by him, and then he got up high into the loose stuff and spun and I just went around by him.”

Stillwell chalked up another win at the 1/5-mile dirt oval, which helps him in the overall national bandolero standings.

“The win makes me feel better and helps get me closer in national points.  This makes six races won here (at Millbridge) for national points, so it helps a bunch.”

Kendall Sellars had it pretty easy on Sunday at Millbridge Speedway.  He piloted his yellow #6 car to the front in the Bandolero Outlaws race and made it look like a Sunday drive.  He did, however, have to get around the #98 car of Kyle Shano, who was competing in the combined-division race in the Young Guns class.

“He (Shano) got into a loose spot on the track and when he did, it just shot him up the track and he got pretty high,” said Sellers.  “We just capitalized and took over.  I took my time and made sure I didn’t hit any bad spots on the track.  I just tried to be a patient driver.

Sellers loaded the car up on his hauler with a smile knowing that he and his team have found a real competitive combination on the dirt at Millbridge Speedway.

“We’re pretty pumped.  We got a real good start and that got us out there real good.  We had a real good car all day.  It’s taken a few weeks to get it that way and it paid off.”

YOUNG GUNS -  SHANO SHINES ON CAROLINA DIRT

Kyle Shano had his hands full at times on the challenging Millbridge oval.  Although he slipped up and let Kendal Sellers by, Shano did take the win in his class, the Bandolero Young Guns.
“The car was a little loose and the track was a little loose,” said Shano.  “But I think Melvin will fix it up for next week.  There was a lot of dust and dips.  It was mostly in turns three and four where there were some rivets.  Well actually divots, but who knows…maybe there were both!  The big ones send the car around a little.”

Shano seemed satisfied about his fourth Young Gun win of the Millbridge season but said he is just happy to be racing on dirt.

“I always love dirt.  It’s always been the best for me.  It’s just I go crazy when I am on pavement slinging it in the corner and trying to get the traction.  Here you can just have fun, and it really shows who the driver is.  You are sideways and the car is sliding around.  I’m more of a driver not a finesser.
